‘The New Prophet’
Daily Reflection for Tuesday
Listen to the hymn tune below and sing along with the lyrics if you wish to.
Hymn StF 12: Morning Glory, Starlit Sky
Morning glory, starlit sky,
leaves in springtime, swallows’ flight,
autumn gales, tremendous seas,
sounds and scents of summer night;
Soaring music, towering words,
art’s perfection, scholar’s truth,
joy supreme of human love,
memory’s treasure, grace of youth;
Open, Lord, are these, thy gifts,
gifts of love to mind and sense;
hidden is love’s agony,
love’s endeavour, love’s expense.
Love that gives, gives evermore,
gives with zeal, with eager hands,
spares not, keeps not, all outpours,
ventures all, its all expends.
Drained is love in making full;
bound in setting others free;
poor in making many rich;
weak in giving power to be.
Therefore he who thee reveals
hangs, O Father, on that Tree
helpless; and the nails and thorns
tells of what thy love must be.
Thou art God, no monarch thou,
throned in easy state to reign;
thou art God, whose arms of love
aching, spent, the world sustain.

Prayers of Intercession
Let us offer our prayer
with all God’s people
through Jesus Christ our Lord
who ever lives to pray for us.
We pray for the needs of the world…
We pray for the Church…
We pray for all in trouble or distress…
We pray for all who make a new beginning today…
(Other petitions may follow.)
God of compassion and mercy,
listen to our prayer.
May what we ask in Jesus Christ your Son
be done according to his word, who said,
‘Ask, and you will receive,
Seek, and you will find,
Knock, and the door will be opened to you.’
To you, merciful God,
Through your Son,
In the life-giving Spirit,
Be glory and praise for ever. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
Lord our God…
