Backpackers Holiday Club 2019 starts here on Mon 5th August
Rev Sarah Gill, Woodhouse Close Church says “We couldn’t run the event without a team of volunteers who among other things run the groups and prepare and serve food.  We are also extremely grateful for the help from local organisations and the local community,  especially with the financial input which enables us to keep costs to families low.
Rev John Purdy, Bishop Auckland Methodist Church adds “Thanks to the generosity of others this enables children to attend each afternoon and be provided with a hot meal, with the charge to families kept at £5 per week for 1 child, £8 for 2 siblings and £10 for 3 siblings”.

This year, the young “backpackers” who sign up, will be provided each with their own backpack to enjoy learning about different countries as well as the Bible Stories associated with Jesus’ travelling in his final days to Jerusalem. The programme is full of fun and games, crafts, songs and sports as well as tasty food from right across Europe courtesy of our club chefs from the Auckland Project.

There is a special secondary programme which will join with everyone else for food and some activities, but mostly have their own dedicated teenage programme which also takes them on a backpacking tour.  Places are booking up fast.
